Our Statement on Inclusive Excellence
We aim to build a community network that values individual differences and diverse paths into higher education as a source of strength and embraces the challenges in authentic learning environments which: 1) are co-constructed by learners and learning coaches, 2) identify, address and reduce hindrances to learning, 3) implement Universal Design, 4) utilize open educational resources, 5) invite participation and recognize diverse ways of participating as a source of strength, 6) are empowering, 7) are structured around complex, ill-defined problems, and 8) make visible people of varied and intersectional identities.
Our theory of change hinges on community networks. We hypothesize that if we build a culture of community & connection, then feelings of inclusion, support, and confidence as well as life-long learning (self-regulation) and self-assessment capacity for all in our network will increase. We are a statewide ecosystem of support that extends across STEM fields and entities doing educational development and diversity, equity and inclusion work. |
